Random Thought #025: Are you ready for some hockey?

26 Jan

The road we are headed down: Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League would be the only two sports of the big four left playing games if we see lockouts in the NBA and NFL next season.

For all our sakes, I hope the NBA, NFL and their respective player’s unions get it together before their seasons start. Can you imagine a summer of baseball knowing that come August/September… all you have to watch is more baseball… followed by hockey? I don’t know about you, but that makes me cringe. No offense against our national “past time”, which I’d argue is now football and not baseball, or the national past time of our northern neighbors, but football and basketball are our countries two favorite sports, and if come mid-November, the only thing to watch is hockey, people may begin to realize how serious these talks really are.  Not that they don’t now, but I’m sorry I need more than hockey and Canadian football in my life.  Just think about all the Sports Center top 10s that will be filled with everything but sports (i.e. waterskiing squirrels and tree tossing).

For the sake of us all, get it together… ASAP.

They can be jerks if they want to and have lockouts. I will just break out my Orioles cap, get a new Capitals jersey and keep it moving. Let us also not forget about college sports, good ole college…the athletes there have no say. So they can’t strike (*insert evil laughter*).
