Random Thought #034: The Sox Can Still Win 100 Games

With a quarter of the season gone, the Preseason Paper Champs are finally over .500. Since starting the season 2-10, the Sox are quietly making a lot of noise in the win column.

A lot of prognosticators thought Boston could win 100 games this season, but after their slow start, most of them began renigging like a first time spades player, but hold up… suddenly it’s not so far fetched.

Since that 2-10 start, Boston’s 19-10, a .655 winning percentage. With 121 games remaining, if the Sox play at the same level (.655) for the remainder of the season, they’ll win 79 of those 121 games.

Let’s do some simple math here 21 + 79 = 100.

That would be quite miraculous, and they’d be donned as one of the greatest slow starting teams of all time. Especially if they win it all.
