Hulk Hogan Was Nearly A Member Of Metalica

28 Jan

By RJP Staff

Say What? Yeah, according to the shirt ripping wrestler, who now stars in his own reality TV show Hogan Knows Best, he almost joined an early version of the band. Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was a session musician before becoming a wrestler, and apparently was close friends with Metalica drummer Lars Ulrich.

Hogan told The Sun: “I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler. I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out.”

Can you imagine that? Hogan smashing guitars instead of heads?

Only player who deserves MJ comparison…

18 Jan

Michael Jordan thinks only Kobe Bryant deserves comparisons.

Ever since Michael Jordan retired — all three times, really — the NBA has searched for the heir to his throne. Many players have popped up as pretenders to the throne, from Harold Miner to Jerry Stackhouse to Vince Carter. In recent years, people have stopped trying to find a clone and just searched for a similarly dominant great player. If you ever wondered why LeBron James is seen as such a failure, a lot of it has to do with his inability to meet the example set by Jordan.

There are many great players in the NBA these days, most of whom have never been directly compared to Jordan. Nevertheless, His Airness says only one player comes close enough to his greatness to merit the comparison. Not surprisingly, that player is Kobe Bryant. Here’s what Roland Lazenby, a great writer currently working on a Jordan book, tweeted on Sunday (via PBT)

Kobe’s ultimate competition is MJ. That’s why MJ watches him. MJ made people think what he was doing wasn’t human. Ditto the Kobester.

I never said Kobe was better than MJ. MJ just told me Kobe’s the only one to have done the work, to deserve comparison.

Tiger Woods… You ARE NOT The Father

29 Dec

Tiger Woods (L), Maury Povich (M), Rachel Uchitel and hubby Matt Hahn (R)

By Chris McCoy

We all remember the Tiger Woods saga. He did a lot of #losing on and off the golf course in 2009, 2010 and 2011, but do you remember his mistresses names? Yeah… we don’t expect you to. Mistress number one, however, was 36 year old nighclub manager, Rachel Uchitel… and she’s got some big news.

Her 26 year old husband and former Penn State fullback, Matt Hahn, is not the only new person in Uchitel’s life. Yesterday via Twitter, she announced that she and her husband of two months are expecting an addition to the family in 2012.

She could no longer hold in her excitement, tweeting two pics of her in a red and white candy cane-esque dress with hubby Matt caressing her baby bump. Saying: “@MattyHahn checking out my baby bump at 5 months…” and “Expecting big things for 2012… Five down, four months to go…” (see pics below).

*TIMEIN*

Uchitel, who inked a deal earlier this year to star in her own reality show and has also appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, ironically found out she was pregnant when she auditioned for The Amazing Race, a source confirmed to Life & Style Magazine.

“They were going to try out to be a couple on the show, and when she had a drug test, it came back positive that she’s pregnant!”

As far as the sex of the child? While Uchitel is far enough along in her pregnancy to find out, apparently they want to wait to find out, as she told Radar Online that she doesn’t mind whether it is a boy or a girl, as long as the child is healthy, but if it is a boy, she hopes “he’ll be as handsome as his dad!”

Jermaine Pennant’s $200K Chrome Aston Martin

Stoke City Midfielder Jermaine Pennant

Stoke City Midfielder Jermaine Pennant

You may have never heard of Premier League Footballer Jermaine Pennant, but you’ll soon remember his car.

Pennant, a midfielder for Stoke City, had his $200K Aston Marton DBS painted chrome. While he’s not the first to do it, his whip will definitely announce his presence from hence forth. His black rims match his dark tint, which will help hide his next model girlfriend from his current one, and keep him from overdoing it – if that’s possible – with chrome one chrome. What do you think of the car? Would you whip that? Let us know in the comments below.

Damn, What’d You Do Now?? … Kobe’s Wife Vanessa Files For Divorce

16 Dec

Damn what'd you do now Kobe?

via Associated Press

Kobe Bryant’s wife, who stood by her husband when he was charged with sexual assault in 2003, filed for divorce on Friday from the Los Angeles Lakers star, citing irreconcilable differences after a decade of marriage.

Vanessa Bryant signed the papers on Dec. 1. Kobe Bryant signed his response on Dec. 7 and it was filed Friday, according to the documents.

“The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012,” according to a statement from a representative for the couple.

In the filing, Vanessa Bryant asked for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s two daughters, Natalia, 8, and Gianna, 5. Kobe Bryant asked for the same in his response. Vanessa Bryant also requested spousal support.

The Bryants “ask that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this difficult time,” according to the statement.

Bryant met his future wife in 1999 on a music video shoot when Vanessa Laine was 18 years old. Six months later, she and the then-21-year-old Bryant became engaged. They married on April 18, 2001.

The Bryants have been through trying times together.

Vanessa, who stood by Kobe's side amid allegations of sexual assault in Colorado in 2003, has decided she can't do this anymore.

Vanessa Bryant appeared at a news conference with her husband when he was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman who worked at the exclusive Lodge & Spa at Cordillera near Vail, Colo., in 2003. She held his hand and stroked it tenderly as the NBA star admitted he was guilty of adultery — but nothing else. Earlier she had issued her own statement to the media, vowing to stand by her husband.

“I know that my husband has made a mistake — the mistake of adultery,” she said in the statement at the time. “He and I will have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so. He is not a criminal.”

A year later, prosecutors dropped the criminal charge against Kobe Bryant because the woman did not want to go ahead with a trial.

Last year, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant settled litigation with a former maid who accused the NBA star’s wife of harassment. The Bryants countersued Maria Jimenez for violating a confidentiality agreement by talking to reporters about the family.

NBA Players Union Rejects Latest Offer, Stern Gives Wednesday Ultimatum

6 Nov

“The players will not be intimidated,” attorney Jeffrey Kessler said early Sunday after eight hours of negotiations stretched late into the night. “They want to play, they want a season, but they are not going to sacrifice the future of all NBA players under these types of threats of intimidation. It’s not happening on Derek Fisher’s watch; it’s not happening on Billy Hunter’s watch; it’s not happening on the watch of this executive committee.”

Kessler said the proposal was really 50.2 percent for the players and called the chance of them ever reaching 51 percent a “fraud” and an “illusion.”

Whatever. If players don’t agree to it by Wednesday, Stern said they would get a deal that would guarantee them just 47 percent of BRI and call for a flex salary cap.

“We hope that this juxtaposition will cause the union to assess its position and accept the deal,” Stern said.

Thus ended another frustrating day, one that puts a lengthy 2011-12 season in doubt.

“Today was another sad day for our fans, for arena workers, our parking lot attendants, our vendors. Very frustrating, sad day,” union president Fisher added. “We, for sure, unequivocally, made good faith efforts to try to get this deal done tonight. And we’re at a loss for why we could not close it out.”

And it remains difficult to see how they can. Stern certainly wouldn’t speculate on the chances.

“I’m not going to make percentage guesses or anything like that. We want our players to play. We’d like to have a season,” he said. “These are the terms upon which we’re prepared to gear up and get in as many games as possible.”

Players and owners met with federal mediator George Cohen for more than eight hours, and Stern said Cohen offered six “what if?” recommendations relating to the BRI split and the salary cap system.

Stern said owners accepted the first five and would put them in writing in a formal proposal to the players, hopefully Sunday. But it wasn’t acceptable Saturday, with Stern saying Kessler rejected it.

KJ Dillon Leaps From the 5-Yard Line To Score Over Three Defenders

25 Oct

By RJP Staff

KJ Dillon has super powers, or at least it might seem that way after you watch the following play. Kimlon KJ Dillon of Apopka high in Florida, dives for the end zone from the five yard line over three West Orange High defenders… AND SCORES. I’m pretty sure that’s not how this reverse was drawn up, but it worked!
