Ochocinco Posing With Tebow Just Days Before The Patriots-Broncos Game

17 Dec

By RJP Staff

Ochocinco, who’s having his worst career year since his rookie season, with only 13 receptions for 228 yards and 0 TD through 12 games, has been known for controversy throughout his 11 year NFL career. Last night he made a stir on Twitter, by posting this Twitpic of him and Tebow… the week the Pats are set to take on the Broncos. The caption reads: Yes this at the Last Supper and yes I’m the only black disciple. A joke clearly, but do you have any issue with 85 posing with Tebow the week of the game? Let us know in the comment section below.

Damn, What’d You Do Now?? … Kobe’s Wife Vanessa Files For Divorce

16 Dec

Damn what'd you do now Kobe?

via Associated Press

Kobe Bryant’s wife, who stood by her husband when he was charged with sexual assault in 2003, filed for divorce on Friday from the Los Angeles Lakers star, citing irreconcilable differences after a decade of marriage.

Vanessa Bryant signed the papers on Dec. 1. Kobe Bryant signed his response on Dec. 7 and it was filed Friday, according to the documents.

“The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012,” according to a statement from a representative for the couple.

In the filing, Vanessa Bryant asked for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s two daughters, Natalia, 8, and Gianna, 5. Kobe Bryant asked for the same in his response. Vanessa Bryant also requested spousal support.

The Bryants “ask that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this difficult time,” according to the statement.

Bryant met his future wife in 1999 on a music video shoot when Vanessa Laine was 18 years old. Six months later, she and the then-21-year-old Bryant became engaged. They married on April 18, 2001.

The Bryants have been through trying times together.

Vanessa, who stood by Kobe's side amid allegations of sexual assault in Colorado in 2003, has decided she can't do this anymore.

Vanessa Bryant appeared at a news conference with her husband when he was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman who worked at the exclusive Lodge & Spa at Cordillera near Vail, Colo., in 2003. She held his hand and stroked it tenderly as the NBA star admitted he was guilty of adultery — but nothing else. Earlier she had issued her own statement to the media, vowing to stand by her husband.

“I know that my husband has made a mistake — the mistake of adultery,” she said in the statement at the time. “He and I will have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so. He is not a criminal.”

A year later, prosecutors dropped the criminal charge against Kobe Bryant because the woman did not want to go ahead with a trial.

Last year, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant settled litigation with a former maid who accused the NBA star’s wife of harassment. The Bryants countersued Maria Jimenez for violating a confidentiality agreement by talking to reporters about the family.

The Clippers WILL Make The Playoffs in 2012 WITH OR WITHOUT Chris Paul

14 Dec

By Chris McCoy

The Clippers will make the playoffs… I guarantee it. Before you look at me crazy Mo Williams and Blake Griffin said that… BEFORE they signed Caron Butler yesterday! And I most wholeheartedly agree!

Look up at the depth chart real quick. The Clippers have been making some moves! One of the biggest glaring weaknesses of this Clippers team the last few seasons has been small forward; what did they do? They went out and signed Caron Butler, who’ s coming off a knee injury, but should be able to provide scoring, and more importantly leadership; which is what a young team like the Clippers needs. Now the Clippers can move Ryan Gomes, who’s best suited to come off the bench, back to the pine, and allow the extremely athletic Al-Farouq Aminu – who’s still just a pup – time to grow and mature.

The Clippers also claimed Chauncey Billups off amnesty waivers. The Clippers will be responsible for roughly $2 million of his $14.2 million salary. A great pick up for a young team looking to get over the hump. *PREDICTION* Chauncey will have the type of impact that Sam Cassell had on that ’06 run. I don’t doubt that Chauncey would have rather landed in Miami, who would have been a shoe-in to win the title with Billups, but he will make a real impact on a young team looking to break into the playoffs, and make some title runs of their own in the coming years. What the Billups pickup really does is set the Clippers up for success in case the Chris Paul deal doesn’t happen, and gives them a killer back court if it does. A lot of you may recall I posed a trade for Chris Paul where New Orleans would give up Paul and Ariza in return for Mo Wiliams, Chris Kaman and Minnesota’s unprotected first round pick. Well it seems like they’ve finally wised up and decided to throw Williams and Ariza into the deal yesterday:

My potential deal; however, as laid out, won’t be happening. The NBA wants more youth back in a Paul deal, so Eric Bledsoe and Aminu would probably need to be thrown into the deal for serious consideration. *RECAP* for all of you all that like to quote me, I’m saying Aminu, Bledsoe, Kaman, Williams, and Minny’s first round pick for Paul and Ariza.

Even if the Paul trade doesn’t go down. The Clippers have positioned themselves for success with a line up that includes five former all stars and one of the best young two guards in the league. ERIC GORDON. Keeping Gordon is key to the Clippers’ success. Howard has named his four potential trade suitors and the Clippers aren’t one of them. So giving up on trading for Howard and keeping Gordon is a must. Gordon, who was the 13th leading scorer in league last year, and the chemistry that’s developing between Gordon and Blake the Great is critical to this young team’s growth and development.

The Clippers are obligated to keep Billups for the life of his remaining contract, as he only has one year remaining on his deal, so a CP3 trade would allow them to move Billups to the bench and preserve his 35 year old legs for a playoff push – especially with all the back-to-backs this year. With Paul their potential line up consists of Paul, Gordon, Butler, Griffin and Jordan with Billups, Foye and Gomes coming off the bench, without him they’re still primed to play past 66. The moves the other LA team have made have placed them in prime position for the 8th seed in a congested Western Conference. So as a Clippers fan, as I anxiously hang on to @Chris_Broussard’s every tweet for news on a Hornets-Clippers deal, I know we’ll be straight regardless of the outcome.

RARE: 60 Minutes of Rare Michael Jordan Footage From The 1990-91 Season

1990-91 Jordan's second MVP season

By RJP Staff

As we prepare for the basketball season, we’d thought we’d wet your appetite with greatness. Chances are with all the back-to-backs and back-to-back-to-backs you’ll be seeing some bad basketball this from every team at least a few times this season.

Most Jordan enthusiast think they’ve seen it all, but just when you think you have seen all the Jordan footage or heard all of the stories of MJ’s heroics or just athleticism, new footage, interviews, or stories surface to remind you that you need to erase any doubt that MJ is the GOAT and accept that he’s underrated at all aspects of the game.

Check out this amazing video featuring just over an hour of MJ footage from 1990-91, his second MVP season.  It’s not all dunks either, checkout this description from the video’s creator:

Here’s a video I made highlighting just how remarkably skilled MJ was during the 90-91 season. All plays are from the 90-91 season. You’ll see the usual array of athletic plays, but I also added just as many (if not more) plays focusing on his footwork, post ups, fadeaways, defense, passing ability, spin moves, bank shots and use of his left hand — all those soft skills he mastered earlier than most people want to remember.

Jordan’s 1990-91 season is my favorite because it perfectly blends his amazing physical capabilities with a mastery (yes, mastery) of the skills he used almost exclusively in the late 90′s. Here is my tribute to that season.

**As a bonus I wanted to show a few statlines from that season. Statistically this was actually one of his most unusual.  He was consistent with a 31 ppg average, didn’t drop 50 or record a triple double all season, but when the finals came he turned into a boxscore killer averaging over 30pts & 10ast.**
